The Manjapai Tote

The average sized yellow-red cloth bags, tucked into the small shelf in almost every household in Tamil Nadu used to be a part and parcel of people's lives, ready to be taken to the shop, the bank, the market, a wedding, or even school. Familiar, functional, and deeply personal, it has been an everyday companion for generations.

As our titular product, we recontextualized the Manjapai as a cultural fashion statement, one that is proudly rooted in Tamil identity while remaining relevant and modern.

It comes in three designs:
• Kolam / Manjapai Logo
• Tea Kadai / Manjapai Logo
• Zha Design on both sides (no logo)

All bags are stitched and screen-printed by a unit of traditional Manja Pai makers in Bhavani, Tamil Nadu, India.
